Decision velocity
Speed and direction, together.
Decision velocity means moving fast, in the right direction, and scoring yourself honestly every month. It’s Law 5 of Adam Weisner’s book, Biblical Business, and it’s how Unbreakable OS is designed to run.
Velocity isn’t speed
Speed is how fast you’re going. Velocity is speed with a direction. A company that moves fast on the wrong things crashes, and a company that moves slowly on the right things gets passed.
Most companies have one without the other. Some chase every new idea and never finish. Others agree on the right goals and then take a quarter to act on them. Decision velocity is having both at once.
If you’re going fast in the wrong direction, you’re gonna crash. If you’re going slow in the right direction, you’re gonna get passed up.
The four parts
Each one is simple. The discipline is doing all four every month.
A few big goals
One clear result each, with a number, a deadline and one owner. We recommend setting them for about a year, lined up with your calendar year.

Every idea is pitched first
Before anyone works on an idea, it has to pass one test: does this move us meaningfully toward one of our big goals? If it doesn’t, it’s a shiny object.

Monthly cycles
Twelve chances a year to decide, act and correct course, instead of four. A bad call costs you a month, not a quarter.
In Unbreakable OSPriorities that last one month
Executed or failed
Every week, owners say whether each priority is on course or deviating. At month end it’s executed or failed, with no in-between.

The filter
Your business doesn’t need more ideas. It needs a way to make sure bad ideas don’t get in.

Outcomes, not tasks
Decision velocity isn’t about doing more. A full task list can feel productive while the numbers that matter don’t move. The point is to finish the few things that change the business, and to know every month whether you did.
Read Law 5 in Biblical BusinessFocus on driving meaningful outcomes for the business, not managing tasks to create a false sense of productivity.
Common questions
- What is decision velocity?
- Decision velocity is a way of running a company where speed and direction go together. A few big goals set the direction, monthly cycles set the speed, every idea passes a filter before work starts, and every priority ends the month executed or failed.
- Where does Unbreakable OS get it from?
- Deciding quickly in a clear direction is an old idea in business. Adam Weisner makes it Law 5 of his book, Biblical Business: 7 Unbreakable Laws of Leadership, and Unbreakable OS is the software he built to run a company that way.
- How is it different from quarterly planning?
- Quarterly plans give you four chances a year to adjust. Monthly cycles give you twelve, so a bad call costs a month instead of a quarter, and work doesn’t wait for the last few weeks of the quarter.
- Do I need software to do it?
- No. You can run it with a document and one meeting a month. Unbreakable OS makes it easier for a whole company by keeping the pitches, the AI review, the weekly updates and the execution rate in one place.
