It’s the category leader, and a lot of people use it. You can definitely grow a business and do well using its tenets. I’ve been an integrator and I’ve been a visionary. I’ve done both. I just think there’s a better way.
The implementer
One of the frustrations I had was that you had to have an implementer. I’m sorry if you’re an implementer and you make your living consulting people. I get it. But I didn’t like to pay somebody seventy-five hundred bucks a quarter to come in and facilitate a meeting. I wanted a system that could be self-implemented for execution, because that’s usually what most people are struggling with.
What most companies are actually running
To be honest with you, most people in EOS aren’t really doing EOS in its full form. They are simply running on L10s and Rocks™. That’s really what they mean when they say they run on it.
What you actually need
What you really need is an execution engine that lets you pivot in a feedback loop a lot faster, and something that makes sure you’re not working on stuff that isn’t moving you toward your goal.
Velocity requires speed and direction.
There are two things you need to do. Number one, set your big goals for growth, finance and operations. One goal for each, just for the next year. Not a three-year plan, not a ten-year plan. Number two, run on monthly cycles of execution. Every calendar month, do at least one thing that moves you meaningfully toward each of those goals.
You can do this yourself
You don’t need to hire anybody to do this. You can do this yourself. Use a pitch for every idea. Run a decision pitch meeting at the end of the month: three minutes to pitch, seven to deliberate, one to decide. Have each owner give a weekly update. At the end of the month, mark it executed or failed.
You can do this on paper, in email or in Slack. We did it in Slack. I created the software selfishly, to solve it for myself. But you don’t have to use it. Just set those goals and run on monthly cycles of execution, and you will watch your business completely change.
Why I built it anyway
I built Unbreakable OS so the engine runs without me having to be involved. You set your goals. Everybody in your company can pitch ideas, and the pitches go through an AI gatekeeper. People give their weekly updates. At the end of the month, it tracks execution and failure for the company, for each area and for each person.
